Escrick Pre-School Playgroup - Learning Journey
Spring Term 2017 - Around the World This term our topic has been Around the World, some of the countries we have been focusing on are France, Argentina, India, Germany, and the Netherlands. Each week we have focused on a specific country, the children have really enjoyed the various activities! Summer Term 2017
We enjoyed a visit from North Yorkshire Police, the children had lots of fun exploring the police van and also listened to key information about the role they play within our community.  Leavers Trip to Piglets We enjoyed a special trip to Piglets farm for our school learvers this term. We’ve had a fun day!  Autumn Term 2017 A visit to Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve, we didn’t let the rain stop us! we enjoyed exploring and learning facts about a variety of pond life. The children used their fishing nets to see what they could find. Spring Term 2018 We have enjoyed visiting the community tea rooms this month, everyone has been very welcoming and the children have enjoyed chatting to everyone. This month we have been looking at road safetey. The children spent long periods of time creating their own roads, discussing the various signs and what they mean. They also extended this topic into creating road works, fixing pipes and roads. Summer Term 2018 We were invited to Escrick church this week. Michala had planned a very exciting activity based around the Owl Babies story. The children enjoyed collecting the knitted owls from around the church and learning some key historical facts, as did the practitioners! We also created our own windows. We hope to go and visit again soon, we really enjoyed it! This term we have watched our caterpillars grow! We have been learning all about the cycle of the caterpillar through stories and a variety of exciting activities. Then came the day to set our beautiful butterflies free. Today was sports day, everyone came to watch the children during their special races. The children were brilliant and successfully completed all the races.
